Suntje Sagerer

I work across painting, sculpture, installation and digital media. My practice explores care, identity and belonging, asking how personal experience can take form and become a shared presence in the world.

In Iconic Identities, painted figures develop into sculptures, animated bodies and digital works. The Iconic Mammas began in 2020 as a community of figures on recycled cardboard. Their growing presence in public and museum spaces gives often invisible care work a face. The Iconic Queens extend this inquiry into autonomy, transformation and self-determination.

Alongside my studio practice, I founded MAG – Minimal Art Gallery, an experimental exhibition format conceived as a social sculpture and a space for artistic exchange.

I studied at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste Dresden and work between Berlin and Bad Muskau. In 2026, Iconic Mamma Chicago was acquired by the Cultural Foundation of the Free State of Saxony and exhibited at Museum Gunzenhauser, Chemnitz.
