Suntje Sagerer_Sculpture_Iconics_Prozess4.jpg

Suntje Sagerer is a visual artist based in Berlin, working between the city and the rural landscape of Bad Muskau in Saxony, near the Polish border. Her multidisciplinary practice spans painting, drawing, sculpture, objects and digital image spaces. Through fragmented visual narratives and symbolic figuration, she explores themes of identity, visibility, social attribution, and contemporary femininity. Central to her work are the series Iconic Mammas and Iconic Queens, in which she examines motherhood and female identity beyond cliché — as cultural constructs shaped by power, vulnerability, memory, and representation. Her works move between intimacy and monumentality, merging influences from devotional imagery, contemporary pop culture, and social observation. Sagerer also developed the Minimal Art Gallery, an experimental exhibition format conceived as a social sculpture and alternative platform for artistic encounter, dialogue, and accessibility.
